Update..

I'm not ignoring this blog.... I just haven't been out drinking anywhere for a couple of weeks!

Paper City Brewery, Holyoke, MA

Holyoke's hidden gem is the Paper City Brewery. Many people are aware of the beer but less are aware of the sampling sessions on thursday and friday nights. $6 gets you all the beer you can sample (between 6pm & 8pm) and you get a four pack of paper city brews on the way out.
Located on the top floor of one of Holyoke's many old paper mills, this Microbrewery offers a nice range of beers and you will find many of these on offer on sampling nights.

All in all, Paper City offers a fun couple of hours and there are usually bands on too. There are also brewery tours at about 7pm each friday.

Eighty Jarvis Bar & Restaurant, Holyoke, MA

After work, we decided to head up to the newly opened Eighty Jarvis just off route 141 in Holyoke. We had been here many times when it was Seamus O'Reillys Irish Bar so were interested to see what the new owners had done with it.

The beer options were good with plenty of local beers on offer including BBC, Paper City and Opa Opa. Service was nice and friendly and the place was looking good too. The best feature of this bar is the beer garden which has great views over Holyoke and has outdoor heaters for when it gets a bit chilly.

Just testing how to put images on the blog..... this one is of the temporary Celtic pub up at the Glasgowlands festival in Look Park Northampton that happens every summer.
I have already visited many of the bars in the Pioneers Valley but will make sure I take my camera along from now on to capture some of these events for the blog.

Welcome to the blog

inspired by the pubs blog for my home town of Crewe in England (http://www.crewe.tv/) , I hope to post pictures and updates here from whenever I visit a bar or brewery in the Pioneer Valley (and occasionally beyond) and find anything noteworthy
